Scooter Braun sold Taylor Swift's masters for $300 million

Scooter Braun, who owns Big Machine Music Group, has now sold the master rights to the six albums Taylor Swift recorded during her deal with the record label. An investment firm called Shamrock Holdings reportedly paid Scooter Braun about $300 million, which is the same amount he paid to acquire the whole company. Taylor Swift responded to the news that Scooter Braun sold her masters on social media, explaining that she tried to buy the masters herself, but Scooter Braun wouldn't even quote her a price until she signed an NDA promising to never say another word about him ever again unless it was positive. Taylor Swift refused, and only learned about the deal a few weeks ago when the investment firm reached out to her to propose a partnership. Scooter Braun will still continue to profit from the rights for several more years, so she ended negotiations with the firm. Taylor Swift then revealed that she has already begun re-recording the six albums that Scooter Braun just sold the masters to.
