Ariana Grande Sued Over Allegedly Ripping Off 7 Rings

No celebritiy is safe from copyright infringement, at least that's how it feels! Ariana Grande is the next singer to be accused of ripping off the lyrics and melody to "7 Rings." Songwriter Josh Stone is claiming that he basically recorded the same song two years earlier and is suing Ariana Grande for royalties. His song is called, "You Need It, I Got It." Besides the hook being the same, Josh Stone says that the two songs have identical metrical placement of the paired phrases. Here's where it gets even more interesting, Josh Stone says he took meetings with music industry execs and producers, including at Universal Music Group, which is the same company that published 7 Rings. They told him that they were very interested in the song and that they liked it a lot! Hmm... That's right, Josh Stone, it's all for the profit!
