Netflix's The Crown actually improving reputation of royal family
Netflix’s historical drama The Crown is improving the royal family’s reputation, according to a new poll. 35% of the show's viewers said their opinion of the British monarchy improved “a bit” or “a lot.” This comes after season 4 was released just last month and follows Princess Diana’s loneliness and Prince Charles’ affair with Camilla Parker Bowles. 23% told pollsters that their impression of the family worsened, and those are the viewers that the royals are worried about. Prince Charles and Camila Bowles’ official Twitter account turned off comments on a post about charity work after users replied with hateful comments about the couple’s treatment of Princess Diana. The UK government wants the streaming service to remind viewers that the show is only loosely based on real-life events, while Netflix is saying that the show is clearly fiction. With this, it seems that the show is helping them more than hurting them.
