Moonlight director Barry Jenkins to make Lion King prequel
A live-action prequel of The Lion King is coming! Barry Jenkins, the Oscar-nominated director of Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk, has signed on to do a prequel of Disney's 2019 live-action movie, The Lion King. Barry Jenkins said in a statement, “Helping my sister raise two young boys during the '90s, I grew up with these characters... Having the opportunity to work with Disney on expanding this magnificent tale of friendship, love and legacy while furthering my work chronicling the lives and souls of folk within the African diaspora is a dream come true." There are no official details on the movie yet, but the rumor is that the plot will focus around an origin story for Simba's father, Mufasa. 
Amazon buys Borat 2 and will release it before election day
Borat is coming! Amazon Studios has acquired Sacha Baron Cohen's new Borat sequel, and it will premiere before Election Day on Amazon Prime. Sacha Baron Cohen shot Borat 2 during the COVID-19 lockdown and is rumored to focus on the global pandemic. The first Borat was nominated for best adapted screenplay at the 2007 Academy Awards, and grossed $262.6 million worldwide on an $18 million budget.

Alicia Keys, Luke Combs, and more to perform at Billboard Awards

The 2020 Billboard Music Awards are just two weeks away, and the first round of performers were just revealed. After 8 years, Alicia Keys will return with a performance from her newly-released seventh album, Alicia. Joining her will be a number of first-time performers for the show, including Luke Combs, Bad Bunny, and Post Malone. Garth Brooks will also be taking the stage as this year's ICON Award recipient. The Billboard Music Awards will air on October 14th, with Kelly Clarkson returning for her third year as the show's host.
