Close, But No Statue

February 29, 2016
Industry insiders thought Mark Ruffalo was a shoe-in for Best Supporting Actor for his work on Spotlight, which did win an Oscar for Best Picture.

When Patricia Arquette started ready the winner's name, people really thought Mark had won.

"Mark," she said. And then the surname started with an "R" sound.

And ended with "eye-lance."

Mark Rylance won instead, for his role in Bridge of Spies.

Mark Ruffalo took it all in stride.

And tried to walk off with a 12-foot statue on his way out.

He didn't get far.

I'd call him a non-sore loser. How about you?

I tried to make off with the big one. Security stopped me. Darn it. #oscars
